Under strength United fail to beat Rangers...

Sir Alex made ten changes to the team that started at Goodison Park, however a very string defensive display by the Scottish champions resulted in a stalemate and a frustrating night for the majority of the 74,000 crowd. United could not break down the nine man defence and despite the inclusion of Rooney and Rio from the start the team looked short of ideas.

With the visit of arch rivals Liverpool on Sunday looming, United go into the fixture on the back of two draws, both very different but draws nonetheless. Winning is a habit and let us hope United have not lost it for the time being.

The match against Rangers was played almost exclusively in the Scottish teams half but the team which included Gibson, Fabio, Park and Valencia failed to make serious headway and attempts on goal were restricted to long range effiorts. The defence with PIG between the sticks had a very quite evening but the Rangers defence proved resolute and the 3,000 or so travelling fans went home very happy.

It is early days and we have all learned over the past 24 years not to doubt SAF's decisions too much so hopefully eleven hungry and rested players will raise their game for the visit of our dearest friends on Sunday!
