Never-say-die United claim stunning late comeback at Villa

Manchester United bagged two goals in the last nine minutes in the type of late comeback which has become synonymous with the club in a 2-2 at Aston Villa. Goals from Kiko Macheda and Nemanja Vidic cancelled out two earlier strikes from the Villains as the spoils were shared at Villa Park.
Villa will feel hard done by after bossing the game for long periods, with James Collins and Gabriel Agbonlahor both hitting the woodwork before Villa broke the deadlock.
The opening goal of the contest came on 72 minutes from the penalty spot. Ashley Young converted after being hauled down by Wesley Brown and the Midlands club revelled.
Marc Albington doubled the lead only four minutes later. Macheda gave the ball away and a crisp counter-attack ended with Stewart Downing's cross and Albrington's neat finish.
United, however, showed tremendous spirit to fight back quickly. The arrears were reduced with nine minutes remaining as Macheda made amends for his early error with an 18-yard finish, before Vidic completed the comeback on 85 minutes as he nodded home Nani's cross.
Villa were aghast and United bombed forward looking for a winner. In 2002, United scored three late FA Cup goals at Villa Park to seal a stunning comeback and 3-2 win, but the hosts clung on this time for a point when they had look destined to bag all three.

Villa were the overall better team but it has been well documented that you write united off at your peril and I believe the Villa players realise that's exactly what they did
The result doesnt fill me with confidence, Midfield was aweful and the attack was given no support and the defence no protection, but it does fill me with relief and optimism
We are grinding the results out at the minute despite lack lusture performances and everyone knows that results are the most important thing no matter what stage of the season it is
With key players to return and the prospect of our annual pre-new year purple patch, it has to be said that we are certainly not in a bad position right now and only improvement lies ahead
