Superb Wednesday night of results for United

Having safely bagged maximum points on Tuesday evening, Manchester United fans sat back on Wednesday evening and watched a near-perfect set of results roll in. Defeats for Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs alongside a goalless draw at Ashburton Grove between Arsenal and Manchester City will put the Red Devils in a buoyant mood ahead of Sunday’s F.A Cup clash.

United sit two points clear of Manchester City in the league with two games in hand over their nearest rivals. 

Roberto Mancini’s men played out a goalless draw at Arsenal with Robin van Persie, Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott all squandering chances for the Gunners. 

Elsewhere, Wolves claimed a shock 1-0 home win over Chelsea, Blackburn thumped Liverpool 3-1 and Spurs lost 2-1 at Everton. 

Arsenal currently trail United by four points and Spurs are eight points off the pace. The North London duo have both played a game more than the Reds. 

Meanwhile, Chelsea are one point behind Spurs having played the same number of games. 

One of the evening's big winners was Sunderland. The Black Cats move up to sixth with a narrow win at Aston Villa - whilst Newcastle hammered West Ham United by five goals to nil.

In the evening's other fixture, Bolton and Wigan drew 1-1 in the Lancashire derby at the Reebok Stadium.

The results was perfect for man utd. Arsenal-city draw means utd move away from their nearest rivals and pensioners are humbled and any claim of being the best team in the country by JT wil die along with yesterday's result. Title pretenders tottenham lose at everton and loserpool (or it is liverfools) cant remember their correct name are humble by bb. Hmmm, man utd didn't even play and they are the winners. May be now you journos may start given us the credit we deserve.
