Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United took a huge step towards winning the Premier League title with a 4-0 win at Wigan, with Javier Hernandez bagging two goals for the visitors.
Wigan were stronger in the opening stages of the game, but Edwin van der Sar held firm before United took control. Hernandez broke the deadlock on 17 minutes. He met Nani's cross with a fine chip to the delight of the travelling fans. The Mexican went onto double his tally 15 minutes from time with a composed finish. Rooney's tap-in rapped up maximum points for United in the closing stages before Fabio ensured it was a rout for the away side. The win puts United four points clear of Arsenal, with third-placed Manchester City now 11 points adrift of the table-topping Reds.
