Javier Hernandez bagged a late winner against Everton as Manchester United kept their title challenge firmly on track with a deserved 1-0 win. The Mexican bagged the only goal of the game with a header on 83 minutes.
Antonio Valencia’s
cross was nodded home by Hernandez after Sylvain Disti gave away
possession to the home side.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men deserved the points – with ex-Red Tim Howard busy all
afternoon, including two excellent saves to deny match-winner Hernandez.
United dominated proceedings for much of the game, controlling possession and
notching up twelve attempts on target and thirteen corners.
However, the travelling Toffees were furious when substitute Victor Anichebe
was denied a penalty after being challenged by Rio Ferdinand.
The result, United’s fourth win in five league games, means the Red Devils need
seven points from their final four league outings to clinch the title.
