Berbatov misses Schalke 04 game with injury

Manchester United will be without frontman Dimitar Berbatov for Tuesday evening’s European clash in Germany. The Bulgarian’s absence means fans will be eager for Sir Alex Ferguson name a two-pronged strike force of Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov for the clash with Schalke 04.

Top scorer Berbatov is unavailable with a groin strain.

He also missed United’s narrow 1-0 win over Everton on the weekend.

The pairing of Hernandez and Rooney has proved effective recently and looks set to be utilised again at the Veltins-Arena.

United enter the two-legged tie as big favourites; with the winners facing either Real Madrid or Barcelona in the Wembley showpiece final.

Berbatov has 22 goals to his name this season, though he has only scored twice in his last 12 appearances.
