United XI claims double victory in Wales

A Manchester United XI claimed back-to-back wins over Welsh Premier League opposition. A youthful, inexperienced United team beat Llanelli and BangorCity during a short tour of Wales.

The Red Devils kicked-off a short break in Wales with a 2-0 victory over Welsh Cup holders Llanelli.

6,622 were at Parc-Y-Scarlets as 24-year-old Souleymane Mamam opened the scoring for United. The Togo international is on trial at United, having previously played for the club in 2007.

Paul Pogba doubled the advantage for United. He fired home the rebound after seeing his penalty kick saved.

48 hours after the win in West Wales, United returned to action for a clash with Bangor City and claimed a deserved 3-1 win.

Ghananian striker John Cofie bagged a brace and Ravel Morrison hit the target for the visitors, with Alan Bull scoring for the North Walians in front of 1,079 fans.

Bangor City suffered a 13-0 aggregate defeat to HJK Helsinki earlier in the season.

United XI v. Llanelli: Amos; Cole (Leao 85), Vermijl, Fornasier, Fryers; Pogba, Mamam (Morrison 58), Drinkwater, Lingard, Petrucci (Giverin 58); W.Keane (Cofie 46).

United XI v Bangor: Johnstone; Lingard, Giverin (Vermijl 69), Fryers (Leao 80), Fornasier; Drinkwater, Petrucci, Pogba, Mamam (Cole 57), Morrison; Cofie.
