Roon hits the news

The Daily Mail claims that Wayne Rooney was left out of Saturday’s clash with Blackburn Rovers after going out for a Boxing Day meal with his wife Coleen and other Manchester United team-mates. The newspaper also claims that defender Jonny Evans and midfielder Darron Gibson attended the meal.
Rooney was not even named amongst United’s substitutes as the Red Devils crashed to a shock defeat at the hands of Blackburn.
Despite a brace from the on-form Dimitar Berbatov, Sir Alex’s men were beaten 3-2 and missed out on the chance to finish 2011 at the top of the Premier League tree.
A report in the Daily Mail claims that Rooney was left out after going out for a Boxing Deal in the aftermath of United’s 5-0 win over Wigan.
The report alleges that Evans and Gibson also attended the night-out. The former is currently injured, but the latter is fit and also played no part against Blackburn.
Rooney, who joined United for £20million from Everton, recently ended a five-match goal drought with strikes against Wolves, QPR and Fulham.
These developments have fuelled speculation about Rooney’s uneasy relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson. 14 months ago, the player claimed United lacked ambition and stated he wanted to leave – before suddenly doing a dramatic U-turn and penning a new, long-term deal.
