United and Chelsea linked with move for Fellaini

Speculation is linking Manchester United with a surprise January move for Everton’s towering midfielder ­Marouane Fellaini. However, Chelsea could also be in the frame to bid for the Belgian international, with Toffees boss David Moyes conceding that the players’ future beyond January is not certain.

Fellaini has five years remaining on his Goodison Park contract and Everton would demand a big fee for the player.

The 24-year-old joined Everton for £15million from Standard Liege in 2008, and the Toffees would want to make significant profit from their initial investment.

Sir Alex Ferguson is thought to be a huge admirer of the player, who has formed an intergral part of the Everton line-up in recent years.

However, Chelsea have also been linked with the player who reportedly carries a whopping price tag in the region of £30million.

Boss David Moyes would only confirm that the player will be at the club for “at least the next four months” – with the transfer window due to open in January; but he also knows the players’ current contract leaves Everton in a “strong position” .

Fellaini made the ideal start to the new season when his headed goal handed Everton a 1-0 victory over Manchester United, before going onto score against Aston Villa only days later.
