United hit back to claim 3-1 win over QPR

Manchester United came from behind to claim a crucial three points against Queens Park Rangers at Old Trafford. Jamie Mackie nodded the visitors ahead as United struggled to find their tempo, but struck back thanks to goals in quick succession from Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher and Javier Hernandez.

Harry Redknapp, recently confirmed as the new QPR boss, watched from the stands as he prepares for his first game in charge at Sunderland on Tuesday.

The former Spurs manager watched the Hoops take the lead shortly after the interval - only for United to come storming back thanks to goals from Jonny Evans, Darren Fletcher and Javier Hernandez.

The likes of Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney returned to the United line-up after sitting-out of the mid-week clash at Galatasary, but United were disappointing during the opening 45 minutes and lacked a cutting edge to break down their stubborn London opponents.

Jamie Mackie thought he'd put QPR ahead moments before the interval, but his effort was ruled out for offside. However, he was celebrating seven minutes after the break as he turned home after Kieron Dyer's low attempt was parried by Anders Lindegaard.

QPR's surprise opener was a wake up call for United - who bounced back in style with three goals in approximately nine minutes of play. Evans got the ball rolling - turning home from close range after Wayne Rooney's corner had been nodded on by Danny Welbeck.

Rooney's corner was against the creator for United's second as Fletcher headed home, before Hernandez raced onto an Anderson through ball to put the Red Devils further ahead and pile pressure on bitter Manchester rivals City.
