Ferdinand not disheartened despite late set-back

Centre-half Rio Ferdinand has said Manchester United are “not too down” despite missing out on three points at White Hart Lane in the closing seconds of Sunday’s game. Clint Dempsey turned home an equalising goal as United’s defensive heroics came unstuck at the death.
Ferdinand was part of a United backline that produced a tremendous defensive display until Dempsey’s dramatic late strike.
Despite the disappointment, the 34-year-old was not too disheartened and stated that the Red Devils would have taken a draw prior to kick-off.
Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "Before the game we would have taken a point.
"We defended well as a team. You have to do that as you have to stand up and be counted and we did that today until the last 30 seconds.
"They are a team who are improving under a new manager, so we leave here not too down."
Robin van Persie had nodded United ahead after 25 minutes – but United couldn’t hold on for what would have been a superb away win.
