Manchester United have agreed a deal with Crystal Palace which will see winger Wilfried Zaha join the Red Devils in July for a fee thought to initially be in the region of £10million, with as much as £5million in potential add-ons. The signing of last season’s Football League Young Player of the Year looks to be a major coup for the Red Devils.
20-year-old Zaha has impressed with Palace and already has one England cap to his name, having played seven minutes as a substitute against Sweden in November.
He has already notched up 124 appearances for his London club, with 15 goals to his name since making his professional debut against Cardiff City in March 2010.
A host of other Premier League clubs are thought to have kept a close eye on the player, who won the Football League Young Player of the Year award last season.
However, United have secured his services – with a fee of around £10million touted, which could rise by 50% with future add-ons. The player will move to Old Trafford in July.
Zaha’s skilful, attack-minded wing play has won much plaudits – and Sir Alex Ferguson looks to have secured the services of a brilliant prospect for the future.
He will remain with Ian Holloway’s side for the remainder of the season, where he will hope to continue to spearhead the Eagles’ promotion charge.
Despite the exciting prospect of a move to Old Trafford, the player insists his focus remains on helping Palace continue their fight to win promotion to the Premier League.
This looks a hugely exciting signing for United. Welcome aboard (in July, at least!) Wilfried Zaha.
