Bitter rivals Liverpool did Manchester United a massive favour as they claimed a 2-2 draw at Eastlands on Sunday. The result means second-placed City now trail United by nine points, with 13 Premier League games remaining.
United’s Premier League title hopes were given a huge boost as goals from Daniel Sturridge and Steven Gerrard helped Liverpool to a point at the City of Manchester Stadium.
City took the lead on 23 minutes as Edin Dzeko broke the deadlock, but the Scousers restored parity as January acquisition Sturridge fired home a superb long-range strike.
Liverpool took the lead thanks to a thunderbolt from Steven Gerrard, but Sergio Aguero pulled the home side level with an incredible effort from the most acute of angles.
In Sunday’s other Premier League clash, West Bromwich Albion’s miserable 2013 continues as they suffered a 1-0 loss as a stunning goal from Gareth Bale settled the Hawthorns contest.
