Ex-Red Devils defender Henning Berg believes deadline day acquisition Marouane Fellaini can be a big hit at Old Trafford. David Moyes splashed out £27.5million on the midfielder, though the signing has divided opinion.
The Belgian international formed an integral part of Everton's set-up under Moyes, and United's new boss grabbed the headlines by bringing the powerful midfielder to Old Trafford at the eleventh hour of the transfer window.
However, the move has divided opinion with a section of fans and pundits alike pointing to a hefty price tag and an absence of what others may describe as higher-profile signings.
United paid £4million more than a buy-out clause in Fellaini's contract which had expired only weeks before and was reportedly due to be reinstated in January - but former Red Berg believes the deal will pay dividends for Moyes.
Speaking to MUTV, he said: "I think with his passion and his mentality, he can make a big difference to United.
"He's not the kind of player to thread passes through but he has a sheer presence to hold the ball up, ability to win balls in the box and match-winning mentality - he raises his game for the big matches.
"Every game for United is a big one, so I think he will rise to that and enjoy it".
Norwegian Berg helped United to two league titles during a three-year stint at the club, in which he made 107 appearances.

I'm happy about the signing, but not the fee agreed. We paid more than his buy-out clause. A stupid bit of business to be honest.
Seeing as how Fellaini was our number 1 target all summer the signing is a good one. We were after other targets (Baines being the same number 1 target as Fellaini), so I am a bit disappointed we only came away from the transfer window with one player. Might be enough for the league title, but not Europe.

The players we have could if they all play to the best of their ability win everything, but maintaining and getting that level is the key. First things first we need Rooney back at the top of his game, if we can get Wayne firing on all cylinders that would be great.
Only city have a squad with so much talent, we will come back from the international lay off with renewed vigour - we have wone the league before after far worse starts!
