Liverpool tie provides chance to bounce back for United

The Capital One Cup game against Liverpool on Wednesday evening provides David Moyes' team with the ideal opportunity to bounce back after a mixed start to the season, which has already seen defeats at the hands of Manchester rivals City and long time adversaries Liverpool in the Premier League. United were outplayed in every department in the 4-1 defeat by City last Sunday and need a moral boosting performance to get their season back on track.

The live Sky game on Sunday was a bit of a horror show for United fans as their neighbours were quicker to the ball, seemingly more determined and hungry for success. Only when four goals behind did the Red Devils start to play and were rewarded with a consolation goal from a superb free kick by Wayne Rooney. 

Speaking after the Manchester City defeat Moyes said,"Whether it's a derby or somebody else, you don't want to lose, but it does make it worse when you want to do so well for your supporters. I thought our supporters were great today, under the circumstances. Whatever manager loses a game, you get on and try to win the next game. You just play the next game and see how you go. We'll do everything we can to win the next one." 

Moyes is sure to select a strong game for the match for which tickets are still avaialble for registered supporters plus the game is being televised live on Sky Sports 2. 

In the past the League Cup in it's various guises has provided United with success and a trophy and the tournament should not be dismissed lightly, Liverpool who won the competition a couple of seasons back will not be taking things easily - and that is a fact!
