Wigan win Grand Final as OT confirmed as venue until 2017

Whilst Manchester United were on their travels at the Stadium of Light, 66,281 were at Old Trafford watching Wigan win the Harry Sunderland Trophy. The Warriors came from behind to claim a 30-16 win over Warrington Wolves, one day after it was announced that an agreement has been reached to stage the showpiece occasion at the stadium for a further four years.

Having trailed 16-2, Wigan scored 28 unanswered points to win the Grand Final at the Thearte of Dreams.

The Warriors, who finished fourth in Super League, ran over five tries and secured the domestic double following their recent Challenge Cup triumph.

Old Trafford has hosted all 16 Grand Finals, following the inception of the play-off concept in Super League's third season - with Wigan claiming their third Grand Final victory on Saturday evening.

An agreement has been reached that will see the next four Grand Final showdowns take place at Old Trafford.

Nigel Wood, Super League Chief Executive, hailed Old Trafford as a "world-class venue", whilst Manchester United's Richard Arnold said it was a "privilege to host the players and fans of rugby league".
