United head to Humberside for Boxing Day clash

Manchester United will be hoping their upturn in fortunes continue on Boxing Day as they make a festive visit to Hull City.

United head into the game on the back of four successive wins. David Moyes’ have responded to worrying back-to-back home league defeats against Everton and Newcastle with an impressive burst of form.

On-form frontman Danny Welbeck, who grabbed two goals against West Ham United on the weekend, is an injury doubt, whilst the game is likely to come too soon for injured duo Michael Carrick and Robin van Persie.

Steve Bruce has named the same starting line-up for his last three outings, which have all been draws – against Swansea City, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion. The former United defender is not thought to have any fresh injury concerns for the game.

Amid controversy surrounding owner Assem Allam’s dreadful plans to change the club’s name to Hull Tigers, the Humberside club presently sit 12th in the Premier League table and are eight points behind United.

The Red Devils have won their last seven meetings against the Tigers, with Hull’s last win against United coming in 1974. Moyes’ men are heavily-fancied by the bookmakers to continue their resurgent form and bring all three points back to the North West, securing additional festive cheer for an increasingly happier Red Army.
