Jingle Bells! United win away at Hull with fine comeback

Manchester United made it five wins on the bounce with a fine festive comeback at Hull City on Boxing Day.

Steve Bruce's men enjoyed an incredible start and led 2-0 after 13 minutes.

However, David Moyes' men produced a fine comeback, drawing level before the interval and snatching the winning goal in the second-half to hand the travelling Red Army a late Christmas present.

Former United defender James Chester broke the deadlock after only four minutes with a close-range volley, before David Meyler's deflected shot doubled the advantage.

United's defensive frailties had been exposed, but the away side showed great determination to turn the game on its head.

Only six minutes after Meyler's goal, Chris Smalling's header reduced the arrears, before Wayne Rooney restored parity with a stunning strike on 26 minutes - his 150th league goal for the club.

Moyes' men completed their comeback mid-way through the second-half as Chester nodded Ashley Young's cross into his own net.

The Humberside club placed United under considerable pressure at the end, not helped by Antoinio Valencia being dismissed for petulantly kicking the ball away. David de Gea, however, was on fine late form as Hull squandered a host of late chances.

United move up to seventh in the Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal. A trip to Carrow Road is next for the on-form Red Devils.
