Manchester United's 2013 record in numbers

2013 has been a memorable year for Manchester United, who - having secured the Premier League title - bid farewell to manager Sir Alex Ferguson and hired a new boss for the first time since 1986.

In the club’s incredible history, 2013 will be remembered as a year of significant note.

On the pitch, United wrestled the league championship back from bitter rivals Man City, cruising to glory by a comfortable margin of 11 points.

But, most notably, an era came to an end. Sir Alex Ferguson retired having brought unprecedented success to the football club. His final game, a jaw-dropping 5-5 draw at West Bromwich Albion, was his 1,500th at the helm.

Having said goodbye to a manager who won 38 trophies with the club, the transition was always likely to be difficult and Moyes endured a mixed start to life at the Theatre of Dreams.

After 15 league games, United boasted their poorest league record since 2001 – but the Red Devils have bounced back with an impressive run, leaving many talking up the team’s chances of winning more major honours in 2014, with form in the Champions League and League Cup also impressive.

United have finished the calendar year boasting their best winning run of 2013 – six wins on the bounce. It’s the first time United have achieved such a feat since September 2012.
