David Moyes has paid tribute to United's travelling supporters, who watched their side lose 2-1 at Sunderland on Tuesday evening.

4,800 Red Devils watched on as a Ryan Giggs own-goal and a Fabio Borini penalty ensured Sunderland edged the League Cup semi-final, first-leg contest, despite Nemanja Vidic's equaliser early on in the second-half.

The away following was in tremendous voice throughout on Tuesday evening, offering significant vocal support to under-pressure Moyes.

United's boss said: “We had a brilliant support, the support was fantastic.

"The way they supported me, the way supported the club tonight was nothing short of exceptional."

Sunderland travel to Old Trafford for the return leg on January 22nd.

United's support whilst tucked away in the top tier was fantastic.

Well done.
