Rooney missing for MUFC

Manchester United will once again be without forward pairing Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie as they travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea on Sunday.

The duo remain sidelined thorough injury, meaning United are likely to be pinning their hopes on the on-form frontman Danny Welbeck in attack.

Full-back Rafael is also unavailable for United, as he completes a three-match suspension.

United head into the game seventh in the table, sitting nine points behind third-placed Chelsea. Defeat in West London would surely, even for the most optimistic of supporter, leave United's hopes of retaining the league title in tatters.

Despite a difficult start to 2014, however, David Moyes' men have lost only one of their last six Premier League matches, and will be hoping to recapture the form that saw them produce their best run of the calendar year as 2013 came to a close.

Chelsea, who could welcome back Frank Lampard in midfield, have never lost a home game against the Red Devils with Jose Mourinho at the helm. The two teams shared a goalless draw at the Theatre of Dreams earlier in the season.

It's a 4pm kick-off at the Bridge.
