Olympiacos will be without striker Javier Saviola for the visit of Manchester United on Tuesday.
The news comes as a major blow to the Greek Super League club as preparations for the Champions League ‘Round of 16’ clash in Athens continue.
Saviola exited Olympiacos’ 4-0 domestic win over OFI Crete during the first-half on the weekend, and will not recover from a thigh injury in time for Tuesday’s clash.
The Argentinean international, who has spent spells at River Plate, Barcelona, Real Madrid and bagged two goals in Olympiacos’ crucial fine Group Stage match against Anderlecht as they pipped Benfica, another of the striker’s former clubs, to qualification for the knock-out stages.
United head to Greece in a confident mood following Saturday’s key 2-0 win at Crystal Palace, and are comfortable favourites with the bookmakers to qualify for the last eight of Europe’s elite club competition.
