Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster is 97 minutes away from breaking a UK league clean sheet record set by Edwin van der Sar.
Forster has now gone 1,215 minutes of action without conceding a league goal after another shut out against Heart of Midlothian on the weekend.
He secured the Scottish record in the process as the Hoops continued their relentless charge towards the Scottish Premier League title with a 2-0 win in Edinburgh.
Former United stopper Edwin van der Sar kept out opposition players for 1,311 minutes during the 2008/2009 Premier League campaign, which is thought to be the UK record in league action.
Forster is 97 minutes away from beating VDS’ feat – with Aberdeen entertaining Celtic on Tuesday evening. A clean sheet there would mean the England international needing to deny Inverness Caledonian Thistle for only seven SPL minutes on Saturday at Parkhead.
Aberdeen, however, did fire two goals passed Forster in a Scottish Cup tie on February 8th, dumping the Glasgow club out of the competition in the process.
United fans, and Van der Sar, might be keeping one eye on the Dons’ efforts on Tuesday evening!
