Big United win comes at perfect time

Manchester United claimed a morale-boosting victory at just the right time on Saturday as David Moyes' men secured a 3-0 victory over struggling West Bromwich Albion.

Optimism filled the away end at the Hawthorns as United's XI was announced, with an attack-minded. strong starting line-up looking more than capable of a big win at the Hawthorns.

United didn't disappoint, claiming a hugely important three points ahead of two crucial, must-win games for Moyes' men - against Liverpool on Sunday and Olympiacos on the Wednesday that follows.

The Champions League defeat in Greece seems a long while ago - and United, fresh from a 10-day break, produced the necessary response as Phil Jones broke the deadlock on 34 minutes.

World Cup hopeful Jones drilled home a Robin van Persie free-kick with a powerful header after United had gone close through Marouane Fellaini and Rafael.
