Ex-United 'keeper earns praise from the White House

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard recieved a phone call from US President Barrack Obama following some heroic displays at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and was also the subject of a tweet from Vice-President Joe Biden.
Howard was in superb form for the USA, but his country narrowly missed out on a place in the quarter-finals following an extra-time defeat at the hands of Belgium.
Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini was in action, whilst Adnan Januzaj was an unused substitute, as Belgium held on for a 2-1 victory after a goalless ninety minutes.
Some incredible goalkeeping earned Howard widespread praise - with social media full of messages emphasising the remarkable efforts of the Everton stopper.
Obama spoke with Howard, and US captain Tim Dempsey, following the game, and told the players the squad had "captured the hearts and the imaginations" of the United States.
The Democrat, re-elected for a second term in 2012, told the ex-United stopper that he wasn't sure how he would "survive the mobs" when he returns to the USA!
Meanwhile, Vice-President Biden was also full of praise for Howard, tweeting that he is the "most valuable player in the World Cup".
