Evra joins Juventus in £1.2million move

After eight and a half years at Manchester United, Patrice Evra has left the club and joined Juventus in a deal worth £1.2million. 

The left-back has signed a two-year deal with the Serie A champions.

Evra leaves Old Trafford following a hugely successful, lengthy spell which saw him scoop five Premier League titles, one European cup, three League Cups and one FIFA World Club Trophy.

He had initial problems adapting to the Premier League, with his debut for the club - a hapless display at Manchester City - infamous amongst United fans. However, the Frenchman improved dramatically and has become a club stalwart in recent times.

The 33-year-old has said it was a "dream come true" to play for United, having first joined the club from Monaco in a £5.5million deal. 

However, despite recently signing a contract extension, Evra's consistency in defence has shown signs of waning as he approaches the latter years of his career, and the arrival of youngster Luke Shaw seems to have sped up his departure. 

Evra notched up 377 appearances for the club with his performances in 2008/2009 earning him a spot in the FifPro World XI and Uefa Team of the Year.

United fans will regard his move to Juve as a gentle step back - but it should be remembered he is joining the Serie A champions, and leaves Old Trafford for Champions League football!
