RVP as captain would have been 'disaster', says ex-Red

Former Manchester United frontman Dwight Yorke believes it would have been a disastrous decision had Louis van Gaal appointed Robin van Persie as captain.
Wayne Rooney was appointed skipper this week, with Darren Fletcher named as vice-captain.
Following his appointment, many suspected that van Gaal may nominate RVP as captain, given his close relationship with the former Arsenal man.
However, he has instead chosen Rooney; and has received backing from Yorke, with the player's experience at the club a key factor for the pundit.
"I think it's a fantastic move for the club and fantastic for Wayne too," said Yorke, speaking to the Sun.
"He's been at the club 10 years this month, he remains the best player and for me he epitomises Manchester United."
On RVP, he added: "To me appointing Van Persie would have been a disaster. Yes, he's done it for Holland and Arsenal but he's only been at United for five minutes."
Rooney is set to wear the armband on the weekend as United's Premier League campaign gets underway when Swansea City visit Old Trafford.
