Wilson set for first-team chance?

James Wilson could get the chance to force his way into Louis van Gaal's plans, with reports stating the young 18-year-old striker has been in training with the first-team squad this week.

With Wayne Rooney, RVP, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck in the squad, breaking into contention looks a sizeable ask for hot prospect Wilson.

However, his form for Warren Joyce's second-string has attracted plaudits, and the player recently grabbed headlines with four goals in United's Manchester Senior Cup triumph over City.

Reports state Wilson has been training with the first-team and will be eager to seize the chance to impress and build on his amazing start to life at Old Trafford.

The teenager enjoyed a sensational start to his Manchester United career last season, bagging a brace as Ryan Giggs handed him his debut in a 3-1 Premier League win over Hull City.

Speculation, meanwhile, continues over the futures of Hernandez and Welbeck.

United's Mexican frontman started Saturday's defeat against Swansea, but, amid rumoured interest from a host of clubs, looks set to struggle for regular first-team action, whilst Hull City have been linked with a swoop for Welbeck.
