LVG not happy after Sunderland draw

Louis van Gaal is, understandably, unhappy with Manchester United's return of a solitary point from their opening two Premier League matches, and admits that the team expected to beat Sunderland on Sunday.

Juan Mata was on target on Sunday afternoon, but his goal wasn't enough for the Red Devils, who had to settle for a 1-1 draw.

The result followed United's bitterly disappointing home defeat to Swansea City, who have now claimed back-to-back wins after beating Burnley, United's next top-flight opponent.

"We have one point and that is not good enough for Manchester United," said Van Gaal.

"We have to work a lot. The players are very disappointed after the game because we thought we would win."

The former Netherlands boss will be hoping to claim his first United victory at Milton Keynes Dons on Tuesday, in the second round of the League Cup.

United's trip to Buckinghamshire falls on what is anticipated to be a hugely busy week for Van Gaal on the transfer market, with a hotly-anticipated move for Angel di Maria widely expected in the days which follow.
