Rooney 11 behind Cole after surpassing Henry return

Wayne Rooney became the Premier League's third highest scorer of all time as his goal helped United to a 2-1 victory over West Ham on Saturday at Old Trafford.

Rooney's early goal was his 176th in England's top flight, eclipsing the record of former Arsenal frontman Thierry Henry.

161 of Rooney's Premier League goals have come at United, following his £20million switch from Everton in 2003.

The 28-year-old has made 370 appearances in the division, and could yet climb another place up the all-time goalscoring charts this season.

Since the creation of the Premier League in 1992, only Alan Shearer - with 260 strikes - and former United forward Andrew Cole have bagged more goals than United's skipper. Rooney is now 11 behind Cole.
