RVP hits back at critics as United ease to Hull win

Manchester United made it three wins on the spin with a routine victory over Hull City at Old Trafford, with Chris Smalling, Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie on the scoresheet.

This was a pleasingly comfortable victory for United, and jogged memories of where wins such as these were perhaps more common at Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal's side dominated possession throughout, and broke the deadlock on 16 minutes as Smalling prodded a messy effort home.

Rooney doubled the lead before the break as he fired home from 25 yards, before RVP capped a morale-boosting afternoon as he powered home a superb shot into the top corner of the Hull City net.

Falcao's introduction from the bench was another reason to smile as United, building momentum, head into December in high spirits after heaping more woe on Steve Bruce's wobbling Tigers.
