Clinical United embarrass Liverpool as winning run continues

Clinical finishing was the difference as Manchester United put bitter rivals Liverpool to the sword with a 3-0 victory.
Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin van Persie were on target as the Red Devils made it six wins on the bounce.
The Scousers were wasteful, whilst David de Gea produced an inspired display, as United gave their supporters an early Christmas present and an emphatic scoreline to boot.
Rooney broke the deadlock as he fired beyond Antonio Valencia's cross beyond the reach of Brad Jones. It was a fine strike from the skipper, and testimony to United's ruthless finishing afternoon.
Mata doubled the lead, though Liverpool will be furious as he nodded home from an offside position five minutes before the break.
On 71 minutes, RVP capped off a pulsating counter-attacking move by the hosts. The three-goal win is tremendous - but United owe it to De Gea who, once again, was fantastic between the sticks.
Liverpool squandered a host of chances, with Raheem Sterling denied by United's Spanish stopper on countless occasions to the delight of the home crowd.
The result keeps Louis van Gaal's men third and heaps more misery on Liverpool following their recent departure from the Champions League. Fantastic!
