Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha has admitted his lack of game time whilst a Manchester United player was damaging to his confidence.
Hopes were high for the winger when he switched Selhurst Park for Old Trafford in January 2013 in a deal worth approximately £15million.
Zaha, however, never got the opportunity to impress at Old Trafford. He notched up only four appearances as a Red Devil, and never started a Premier League game.
Following two loan spells back to Palace, and a brief stint at Cardiff, Zaha recently completed a permanent switch back to his first club.
"If you're not playing, it's just, 'what am I doing?' Not playing at all hit my confidence but now I am playing again," said the player.
"There were other clubs interested but in my mind I wanted to come back to Palace. It is somewhere I like and it's definitely the club I want to be at.
"I am back home. Everything is local to me, my family my friends. I just play football and go home with a smile on my face."
Zaha will have the opportunity to haunt his former employers in May when Manchester United visit South East London.
