Huge win for Margy's men

FC United of Manchester continued their relentless Northern Premier League surge on Tuesday evening, as a tenth win on the bounce put them top of the division.

2,007 supporters were at the Tameside Stadium as a single goal proved enough to beat Halesowen Town. Greg Daniels bagged the crucial goal on 70 minutes, as the Red Rebels leapfrogged Skemersdale United to too the league table.

With some six league games in hand over Skemersdale, challenge for the league crown looks more likely to come from others in the chasing pack - such as Workington, or Ilkeston, both of whom face FC in March.

Say it quietly - but having missed out on the play-offs four years in a row, there is growing belief that this could be the season Little United climb into the Conference North, and the sixth tier of England's football pyramid.
