Ahead of Sunday's massive clash at Anfield, Southampton and Spurs kept their Champions League ambitions on the radar with victories on Saturday.
Harry Kane continued his prolific striking form with a hat-trick as Tottenham won a thrilling game against relegation-threatened Leicester 4-3 at the Lane.
Meanwhile, another candidate for the Championship - Burnley - suffered defeat on the south coast, as Southampton continue to threaten a resurgence, making it seven points from three with a 2-0 win.
Both teams will be hoping for a draw or Liverpool victory on Sunday, as the Premier League season approaches the business end of proceedings.
Sixth-placed Saints and seventh-placed Spurs sit level pegging on 53 points, a single point behind the Scousers and three behind MUFC. Louis van Gaal's men will open up a five point cushion in the top four with an away win in Sunday's pivotal clash.
Come on United.
