Burnley held Spurs to a goalless draw on Easter Sunday, as Manchester United remain eight points ahead of the pack chasing a Champions League berth.

The stalemate as Turf Moor leaves United on the brink of a return to Europe's elite competition, following a one-season absence.

Ahead of City's Monday evening clash at Palace, United sit third in the table and a single-point above their cross-city rivals.

The recent resurgence in form has seen fans speculate about a late surge up the table, with second-place a realistic prospect, even of a late title challenge is not. A place in the top four, nevertheless, seems assured after United's run of victories and the floundering form of rivals, including Spurs and the Scousers.

Burnley, meanwhile, sit 18th after their draw with Spurs, two points behind Aston Villa, who lost 3-1 at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
