David de Gea's future at Manchester United looks increasingly uncertain - and his loss would be a fundamental blow to the Red Devils.
The Spaniard has been on sensational form this season and comfortably the club's strongest player over the course of the season.
United's swift return to the Champions League is, in no small part, down to the regular heroics of the young goalkeeper. It seems remarkable that, not that long ago, his tussle for first-team honours with Anders Lindegaard was gaining column inches.
De Gea could have a huge future at Old Trafford, potentially donning the number one jersey for many, many years to come. However, the lure of Real Madrid looks, according to stories from Spain, increasingly likely to tempt the 24-year-old.
According to reports, radio journalist Joseba Larranaga has become the latest individual to speak out on the deal. He claims De Gea will be Rafa Benitez's first signing, with the ex-Liverpool boss expected to take on the reigns at Los Blanocs.
Following an excellent season in England, expectation levels will be mammoth for De Gea at Real. Meanwhile, he is idolised at Old Trafford. Any departure over the summer would be dreadful news for United. Please don't go, DDG!

Since the end of WW1, 1919, when the FA restarted its 4 tier football league, with Arsenal fc in the 1st div, there’s only ever been one club to have never been relegated from Div 1/ EPL.
i fear you may be spot on, weedz. but lloris would be no replacement. de gea could build, as the article days, a long long dynasty as manchester united goalkeeper and potentially have a career to rival schmeichel. i so hope he stays.
He is destined to be one of the greatest goalkeepers ever. He has already saved United on numerous occasions and is a superb keeper. Good luck to David wherever he is playing next season.
I don't think Real Madrid quite realise that with Casillas set to move on and the fact that United have a CL Qualifier mid-August that we hold the upper hand. They can either up their offer from £13m to £25-30m or we can play De Gea in our CL Qualifier thus cup-tieing from the CL and forcing Real Madrid to look elsewhere for a new keeper. De Gea can then leave for nothing next season (does a club like United really care about £13m?) or he might sign an extension after seeing Real Madrid have bought a new keeper. At least we can say that we tried.
