MUFC target un-FOUR-gettable start for first time since '11

Manchester United will look to kick-off the new season with four wins on the bounce for the first time since 2011 as Newcastle United visit Old Trafford in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off. 

Whilst performances have not been breath-taking, United have enjoyed a very solid start to the new campaign.

Louis van Gaal's men have claimed victories over Spurs and Aston Villa in the Premier League, before a late header ensured a 3-1 win over Club Brugge in a Champions League play-off.

The Magpies are next up for United - and victory will ensure the Red Devils have won their opening four fixtures of the season for the first time in four years.

In 2011, United beat Man City in the Community Shield, then beat West Brom, Spurs, Arsenal (8-2!) and Bolton (5-0!) in the Premier League. A 13-match unbeaten streak for the new season ground to a halt with a 6-1 home defeat against our bitter, cross-city rivals. 

United will be without defensive duo Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo for Saturday's game, whilst Marouane Fellaini completes a suspension. 

Goalkeeper David de Gea is expected to miss out once again as fierce speculation continues about his future; though United boss van Gaal is adamant the club will not be selling last season's star performer. The Spaniard has been the subject of much reported interest from Real Madrid.

The Toon have enjoyed a mediocre start to the new campaign; drawing 2-2 at home to Southampton before getting well beaten at Swansea. United are firm favourites to put their former assistant boss, Steve McClaren, to the sword!
