Fellaini the hero as U21s beat Scousers

Manchester United's second-string claimed victory in a thrilling five-goal contest at Leigh Sports Village, with goalscorer Marouane Fellaini and Sergio Romero both in action.

The bulk of the entertainment in Monday evening's clash was saved for the final ten minutes - as four quick goals ensured a thrilling finale.

Fellaini had broken the deadlock in the opening period; but the drama all unfolded in the game's closing stages.

Nick Powell looked to have wrapped up the victory for the hosts, before Jerome Sinclair pegged United back and Madger Gomes restored parity after a worrying Romero blunder.

However, a moment of brilliance ferom Fellaini handed United the spoils. The Belgian international controlled a Guillermo Varela cross and set-up Sean Goss for a match-deciding finish.
