It’s all eyes on whether Arsenal can do Manchester United a huge favour on Sunday, after Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Norwich City kept hopes of Champions League qualification alive
It has been a mixed season for United and, yet, hopes of a top four finish and FA Cup glory remain.
The Red Devils closed the gap on fourth-placed City to a single point on Sunday, thanks to a narrow triumph at relegation-threatened Norwich.
Juan Mata Garcia grabbed the only goal of the game at Carrow Road, with the Spaniard slotting home a Wayne Rooney pass.
In a game of few chances, Norwich’s chances of remaining in the Premier League look increasingly slim, as Sunderland beat Chelsea and Newcastle draw at Villa. Cameron Jerome had their best opportunity, but was denied by David de Gea.
Whilst this was not an impressive United display, with little created, Louis van Gaal’s men have now pulled together a six-match unbeaten run and could yet end a silverware drought and return to Europe’s elite competition.
The league campaign concludes with Upton Park’s final fixture, before AFC Bournemouth travel to Old Trafford. Should City fail to beat Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, a top four finish would be in United's own hands.
