French paper happy no financial 'diatribes' after Pogba deal

As reaction to the Paul Pogba transfer continues, Liberal newspaper L’Opinion has offered economic comment. They've expressed relief, from a financial perspective, as to how the deal has been received.

Exploring, perhaps, a different focus to many other pundits, journalist Rémi Godeau has written for L’Opinion on the back of Pogba’s record-breaking move to Old Trafford.

He says he is relieved the deal has "not unleashed the usual diatribes about the immorality of money, crazy ultra deregulation and the drift of casino capitalism".

Manchester United have broken the world transfer record to bring Pogba back to the club, with the fee thought to be in the region of £89million.

Godeau's comments come as his countrymen, Arsene Wenger, said the transfer highlighted how football managers are a part of a system they "don't master", and have to "follow the prices paid by other people"; with the " availability of money ... much higher".
