Speculation is intensifying that a former Manchester United stalwart, Steve Bruce, could replace another club hero Mark Hughes in the managerial hot seat at Stoke City - with the Daily Express reporting the possibility.

Speculation is intensifying that a former Manchester United stalwart, Steve Bruce, could replace another club hero Mark Hughes in the managerial hot seat at Stoke City - with the Daily Express reporting the possibility.

Sparky is under fire at the Potteries following Stoke's difficult start to the new Premier League campaign. The club sit 19th in the Premier League table, in the relegation zone. A dramatic West Bromwich Albion equaliser denied Stoke a first league win of the campaign on Saturday afternoon.

Reports now suggest the Britannia Stadium club could be eyeing up a swoop for Bruce to replace Hughes, and spearhead a climb up the table.

Welshman Hughes took the chair at Stoke in May 2013, and has solidified the club's position as a top-flight outfit. Bruce, meanwhile, is available after opting to leave his newly-promoted Hull, after narrowly missing out on the England job.
