Manchester United completed their 2022 fixtures with an important 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Wanderers, as Marcus Rashford came off the bench to grab the only goal of the game.
In-form Rashford was among the substitutes for Saturday's game; left out the XI for internal disciplinary reasons which are yet to be fully disclosed.
However, the England forward eventually entered the fray at half-time, replacing Alejandro Garnacho - and would turn out to be Erik ten Hag's New Year's Eve match winner.
Rashford linked up with Bruno Fernandes before lashing home the game's only goal on 76 minutes - to the delight of the travelling Red Army.
It was almost two for Rashford - but he was denied a brace, and a 12th goal of the campaign, after VAR ruled he had handled the ball before scoring.
United head into 2023 in fine form - with five wins on the bounce, and having not conceded a goal in 299 minutes of competitive football. As rumours continue about the future ownership of the club, it's a run of form which has left many United fans in a positive mood ahead of the New Year - with the club competing on four fronts, in the league, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League, in the coming weeks.
It's AFC Bournemouth at Old Trafford next, before a Cup double header against Everton and Charlton Athletic. Happy New Year.
