Real and Toon join Ronaldinho Chase

Real Madrid have confirmed rumours that they will join the chase to sign Ronaldinho. The Brazilian international looked to be on his way to Old Trafford, but Madrid are determined to add the World Cup Winner to their superstar squad. Newcastle are also emerging as rivals to sign the Brazilian.

they are interested in signing Brazilian World Cup winner, Ronaldinho.
The 23-year-old forward was looking set to move to Old Trafford for a fee reported to be in the region of £9million, but it would appear the Red Devils now have competition to obtain the players signature. A Real Madrid spokesman confirmed that Ronaldinho was a transfer target in an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca. "Yes, we want Ronaldinho," said the Spokesman. "He is a player perfectly suited to the qualities we are looking for. He has quality and no-one doubts the charisma that he could hold over the fans." United were confident that Ronaldinho would become a red before their pre-season fixtures began, but Real's interest in the player will be a major blow to the transfer. Madrid are reported to be offering Ronaldinho a wage of £60,000 a week, a fee United could struggle to match. Madrid are not the only club who are emerging as rivals to sign Ronaldinho. It is rumoured that Premiership rivals, Newcastle United are lining up a part-exchange bid for the player. Sir Bobby Robson is believed to be willing to offer PSG £3million and winger Laurent Robert in exchange for Ronaldinho. A Newcastle United source, who cannot be named said, "We want to bring Ronaldinho to Tyneside. We know we face a massive obstacle when clubs as big as Manchester United and Real Madrid are also being linked with him. "But there are a lot of complications in Manchester United's proposals and we think we can offer PSG an attractive package." |
