Carlos urges Beckham to join Real

Real Madrid and Brazilian wing-back Robert Carlos has pleaded with David Beckham to snub any offers from Barcelona and join him at Real Madrid. Carlos hailed Beckham as one of the world's greatest players, and believes he could help them on their way to further success.

presidential candidate Laporta to move to the Nou Camp and join him at Real
Madrid instead. Should Laporta be elected as the Barcelona president, then the Catalan club will be favourites to sign Beckham, with an offer believed to be in the region of £30million already excepted. Beckham though, appears reluctant to move to the Nou Camp and Real Madrid could still be where the England skippers future lies. Real Madrid will also be playing Champions League football next season, with Barcelona still not certain of European football after recently applying for entry to the Intertoto Cup. Madrid were the first club to be linked with Becks, and although they have made no formal bid for the player, it is believed they are still desperate to pip Barca'a bid and sign Beckham. Carlos is insisting that if Beckham leaves United, he must sign for Real Madrid. "Surely Beckham prefers Real Madrid because they are a more formed team than Barcelona," said Carlos. "If Beckham must choose, surely he will choose Real Madrid before Barcelona. They are not a bad team but everyone knows that we are more complete. "We are going to see what happens in the next few days. What is safe is that Florentino has done a lot of good work so that Beckham comes to Real Madrid. "Without doubt, he is one of the great players in the world." |
