United's search for a new 'keeper appears to be over, with the news that Tim Howard has been granted a work permit to play in England. Howard is expected to play his last match for the New York / New Jersey Metrostars on Saturday, before putting pen to paper on a four year contract at Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s quest for a new ‘keeper seems to be over, with the news that USA international Tim Howard has been granted a work permit to play in England. Sir Alex Ferguson has been looking for a new ‘keeper since the end of last season, with Tim Howard being his most likely choice. Howard will play what last game for the New York / New Jersey MetroStars on Saturday, before signing for United. The 24-year-old will sign for a fee believed to be in the region of £3million, and is expected to put pen to paper on a 4-year-deal. He will leave the US early next week, but will ironically fly back to his homeland the following Saturday to compete in United’s pre-season tour of America. |
