Non-League Newport County look set to be the latest feeder club to United. The move is designed to help United recruit youth players from the South Wales area, and in return some of United's young stars may go to Spytty Park on loan.

Non-League Newport County look set to become the latest club
to agree a feeder link with Manchester United. The deal is designed for United to recruit teenagers from the South Wales area, even though under Fifa rules they cannot officially sign them before the age of 16. United are believed to be impressed with the quality of County's academy scheme, and this move would mean Sir Alex Ferguson could poach the brightest young talent from the Dr.Martens Premier League outfit. The news comes just a week after United announced a deal with another Welsh club, Connah's Quay Nomads. "There have been discussions over a period of around three months but we don't want to say anything more until the details have been confirmed and the agreement signed." said County chairman Wallace Brown. In return, County would expect to be offered United players on loan, and also secure a lucrative home friendly fixture with the Premiership Champions. |
