Manchester United striker Jimmy Davis has tragically died at the age of just 21 in a car crash. Davis was set to start his season-long loan spell at Watford this afternoon, with the game later being postponed due to the very sad news.

United's young striker Jimmy Davis has tragically been
killed in a car crash. The England Under-20 international was supposed to be kicking-off his one season loan for Watford today. Details of Davis' death are unknown, but it is believed to be in the early hours of this morning that his car crashed. Manchester United have released the following statement, regarding Davis' death. "Everyone at Manchester United is devastated to hear about Jimmy's tragic death. We send our sincere condolences to his family and many friends. He will be sorely missed." Sir Alex Ferguson has also commented, talking of his great saddness of the loss of such a promising young player. "You could not meet a nicer and more bubbly character than Jimmy Davis," said Sir Alex. "He was a player with real potential, that's why we had sent him to Watford. At 21 he had great promise. We are all really sad. It is terrible news." Davis was a regular in the United reserve side last season, and made his senior debut back in November 2001, in the 4-0 League Cup defeat at the hands of Arsenal. Watford's season opener against Coventry City was postponed due to the tragic story, and it is likely that a minute silence will be observed at tomorrow's Community Shield final between Manchester United and Arsenal.
