Barthez Vows to Fight for Place

Out-of-favour United 'keeper Fabien Barthez has insisted he has no plans to leave Old Trafford, and believes he can win back a regular place in the starting line-up, despite being relegated to third in the picking order behind Tim Howard and Roy Carroll.

Out-of-favour United 'keeper Fabien Barthez insists he
will be staying at Old Trafford, despite losing his place between the sticks
to US international Tim Howard. Barthez was dropped towards the end of last season for a number of highly publicied errors, and has so far found himself as third choice 'keeper this season, with Roy Carroll warming the bench. Barthez is determined to stay at United though, and believes he can win back his place in the United line-up. "I don't see myself leaving Manchester, I plan to work hard and win back a spot in the team." said Barthez. "It's true that it's the first time that this has happened to me, but it happens at a good time. I'm 32-years-old and I think I would have reacted differently if I was 26 or 28. "Now I have enough experience to tell myself I'm lucky to do the type of job I do. It's the ups and downs of football." |
