The Nevilles In Action As England Step Closer To Euro 2004

Manchester United duo Gary Neville and Phil Neville were in international action for England as they beat Liechtenstein 2-0, at Old Trafford, in their penultimate Euro 2004 qualifying match.

Gary Neville started at right back for Sven’s men, and Phil Neville replaced ex-United legend David Beckham, just before the hour mark.

It was Beckham’s first time back at Old Trafford after leaving the Red Devils for Real Madrid; he got a standing ovation.

Michael Owen opened the scoring after 46 minutes for England, heading home from a Steven Gerrard cross.

Wayne Rooney, England’s youngest scorer, wrapped up the game on the 52nd minute, blasting home England’s 2nd and final goal of the game.

England now go to Turkey on October the 11th, and have to win or draw there to gain automatic promotion to Euro 2004 in Portugal.
